competitive analysis marketing strategyThe Product Management or Digital Marketing Work Integrated Learning Project is a project-based course where students will work in teams to provide a user-focused solution for approved technology-driven projects. The course is designed to allow students to work in teams and demonstrate their Product Management or Digital Marketing competences and skills. Students will have an opportunity to explore various approaches to market research, strategy creation and execution relevant to the product lifecycle stage or digital marketing project made available through Riipen.
Please note: EDGE UP courses give preference to companies located in Calgary.
Deliverables may vary depending on the scope of the project. The final project deliverable will include:
- A final report outlining the work they performed including their analysis, visualisations and recommendations.
- A final presentation to explain processes and key project findings may be required.

Project Examples
Students will work in groups of 4, spending up to 320 hours per team to provide a solution for a new or existing challenge that your company has identified. Throughout the process, students will gain industry-specific knowledge and use innovative tools and techniques to define the problem, carry out gap analysis, develop a go-to-market strategy or campaign, or validate the solution with users, while creating required documentation or digital assets in line with agile best-practices for digital transformation in today’s workplace.
Instructors who are industry professionals will mentor and guide students through the stages of the Product until deliverables are met.
EDGE UP (Energy to Digital Growth Education and Upskilling Project) is a short-term skills development program for mid-career Oil and Gas professionals who have been displaced from the Oil and Gas sector in Calgary. The project aims to help former employees of the Oil and Gas sector gain employment in Calgary’s high-demand, high-growth digital technology opportunities across all industries.
Project examples include but are not limited to:
- Create a product strategy or product roadmap or go-to-market strategy for your new idea
- Perform market research or competitor analysis
- Create and validate a Customer Satisfaction Survey or other suitable UX research tools for your digital product
- Develop user personas or a customer journey map to understand your current or expected users better
- Identify key web analytics, UX, and performance metrics to measure, monitor and improve the health of your digital product or digital marketing strategy
- Prepare an SEM or SEO strategy for your website
- Conduct a website, SEO, or content audit
- Work with your development team on prototyping, MMP, MVP, usability testing, Beta testing or A/B testing
- Develop a social media campaign, social media calendar, content marketing strategy, email marketing strategy, or landing page campaign for your business need
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address questions.
Be available for a conference phone call with the instructor to initiate relationship and confirm project scope
Commit to working with up to four teams of students
Provide pertinent data to the project participants
