Details

The main goal of this project is to gather and analyze data from cities in the United States to determine which are the prime targets for expansion. This will involve several different steps for the students, including:

- Gathering data on overall population, number of university age students, level of competition for our services, if the cities cultures are conducive to any of our services, etc.

- Analyzing the data to determine which services we should launch in each city, or if we should not launch in them.

- Researching other variables that can help inform the decision making process.

- Testing the data analysis and making improvements based on additional data.

Deliverables

By the end of the project, students should demonstrate:

- Understanding of the data gathered from cities in the United States.

- Understanding of variables that affect the decision making process.

- Identification of areas for future improvement of the data analysis.

Final deliverables should include:

- A written report explaining the best and worst candidates for US expansion, and what the expected outcomes are.

Technology

LocalStudent is a new technology startup that was created byΒ students, for students.

We are changing the way that students work in the 21st century.

Our app allows customers to hire students for on-demand services, with the click of a button. We're like Uber for student services. Our startup is quickly growing and people are starting to take notice, as we have been featured on CTV, Toronto Star, blogTO, Narcity and Breakfast Television. Over 25,000+ students have signed up on our platform. We focus on home services right now, but our vision is to become the platform for any service a student can offer, from dog walking to web development and more.
