Details

Mi BOWL Meal is a start-up food company in Toronto. Currently we specialize in ready-to-eat meals. We also offer some limited healthy snack options and frozen meals.

In 2024 & 2025, we'd like to expand our offerings to the following possible areas: additional healthy snacks, sauces, soups, and gut-friendly food options.

To inform our business decisions on prioritization for product development, we'd like to do a comprehensive review of our industry competitors in these product areas within the sectors of health and wellness food and asian-fusion / asian-inspired food.

The objective of this project is to undertake an analysis of industry competitors in the asian-fusion and asian-inspired healthy food sector, with a focus on the following possible product areas: healthy snacks, soups, sauces, and gut-friendly food. The findings of this competitive analysis will inform us our prioritization strategy for product development in 2024 and 2025.

Deliverables

Project activities include:

  • Familiarizing themselves with our company, products, and target market.
  • Identifying current and potential competitors in the following sectors: health and wellness snacks, soups, and sauces, and asian-fusion and asian-inspired food products (with focus on food products noted above)
  • Identifying current and forecast industry trends and potential opportunity areas
  • Creating and applying a framework for the competitor analysis (what's similar, what's different between the companies, what does Mi BOWL value and how these companies stack up against our company values and goals)
  • Summarizing our competitive advantages and disadvantages relative to the competition identified.
  • Recommendations on how our company can differentiate itself through products it creates, services, and our messaging.

Final deliverables should include:

  • A final report
  • 15 minute presentation on the report findings

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

  • Our products and target market
  • Our known competitors
  • Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter.

Mi BOWL Meal is a healthy ready-to-eat meal provider. We make and deliver meals right to your door. Our meals are nutritionally-balanced, asian-fusion and asian-inspired with bold flavour!

We challenge the common misconception about asian cuisine being 'greasy' and 'cheap'. By creating healthy asian-inspired meals, we hope to change public perception on what asian food can be.
