The main goal for the project is to develop an operating budget with functional spreadsheets for the Parents of Black Children organization, assessing all organizational agreements, partnerships, grants, and service contracts to ensure a comprehensive financial overview for the upcoming operational year. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: - Analyzing all organizational agreements, partnerships, grants, and service contracts. - Developing functional spreadsheets for the operating budget. - Assessing the financial impact of all agreements, partnerships, grants, and service contracts. - Ensuring a comprehensive financial overview for the upcoming operational year.
Outreach and Government Relations Assistant
Parents of Black Children (PoBC) is looking for an individual to support our Outreach and Government Relation Analyst with writing and reporting government documents. We are also seeking support in data collection and analysis. We want to use data to illustrate Black students' harm within the education and adjacent systems. We currently have a Government Relations and Outreach strategy for the year and are looking for an individual or team who can help us execute our strategy.

Communications Assistant
Parents of Black Children (PoBC) is looking for an individual to support our Communication Lead with social media content creation, campaign support, data collection and media outreach. We want to be able to help tell the stories of Black families to ensure that institutions are held accountable and anti-Black racism is not tolerated within education. We need support mainly in these areas: 1. Social Media Content Creation Create content that tells the story of what Black students are experiencing within the education system. Create content in bulk so we are showcasing our presence every other day. Help facilitate the growth of a Tik-Tok page. 2. Campaign Support Newsletters, email campaigns, social media elements, press releases, and media advisories. We would like to identify the experience and needs of Black families across the province as it relates to Anti-Black Racism. Support with research and resources would be necessary. Media Outreach.

Social Work/Child Welfare Systems Navigation for Black Families
Parents of Black Children (PoBC) is looking for an individual or class to support our child welfare systems navigation and advocacy work for Black families. We know the child welfare system is not neutral and that Black families experience disproportional impact and disparate outcomes within the child welfare system. We work to support families as they navigate the system. This project will include: Making contacts with parents/individuals who come through our intake process Uncovering the needs of the individual is Supporting individuals with their child welfare case Attending meetings Attending court cases Writing emails/letters on their behalf Helping them complete forms Taking phone calls from them for support Initiating contact with them to learn about their case Referring them to appropriate resources We believe this project will also include: empathy an understanding of anti-Black racism and systemic racism patience to support and see the cases through
Non-Profit Grant Writing
Parents of Black Children (PoBC) is looking for an individual or class to write grants for our non profit advocacy organization to fund our systems navigation, advocacy support and tutoring initiatives for students who identify as Black K-12 across Canada. This project will include: Scheduling and attending meetings with grantors to review/ discuss grant requirements (as needed) Drafting grant applications based on grant criteria Writing and Submitting grant applications Collaborating with the PoBC Team We believe this project will also include: Develop a needs statement that characterizes the community problem and justifies the need for our project and funding. Identify potential sponsors and funding opportunities that are a good fit for our organization and project. Interpret a request for proposal (RFP). Improve the clarity and persuasiveness of our company's grant proposal writing.
