Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on students from University Canada West to be your student-consultants, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one main project over the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.

The teams will apply their international and entrepreneurial knowledge, as MBA students with critical analyses/strategies/design skills to develop ideas in your organization. The teams will complete an analysis and provide strategic recommendations, and practical options and recommend an action plan appropriate to your business situation in consultation with you.

As a participating organization, you will provide a specific question, business issue/ challenge, or opportunity that will be the focus of the student team review.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Final project deliverables will include:

  1. A 10-15 minute video presentation on key findings and recommendations
  2. A detailed report including their research, analysis, insights and recommendations

Optionally, the organization may request to engage with the project team after the course has concluded.

Project Examples

In this assignment, students will conduct an overview of your business and understand your industry and competitive landscape. As a participating organization, you can direct their research by providing particular areas of interest and context on challenges you face. You'll receive unique insights from their analyses by allowing students to perform an unbiased assessment and review.

Students will identify strengths, weaknesses and areas of opportunity. They will provide recommendations in one or more areas that address your business needs and provide insights into potential growth areas.

Recommendations can include, but are not limited to:

  • Opportunities to streamline costs
  • Improved accounting procedures
  • Changes to supply chain management processes
  • Go-to-market strategy for new products or services
  • Changes to your digital marketing strategy
  • Overhaul of branding or communication strategy
  • Pricing or service structure changes
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Provide relevant information/data as needed for the project.

How is your project relevant to the course?

Be available for a quick phone/virtual call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.

Provide a dedicated contact person who is available for virtual discussions to address students’ questions over the course of the project

Provide an opportunity for students to present their work and receive feedback.
