Details

Established in 1919, the Hart House Camera Club provides various photography courses designed to improve skills and deepen photography as a creative practice. Hart House operates a traditional darkroom facility to develop and process black-and-white analogue films for students and the community. One of the few remaining wet darkrooms in the city, the Hart House darkroom facilities include the chemicals and tools needed to develop black-and-white film and create silver gelatin prints.

We seek a Hart House Darkroom and Camera Club Assistant to work as part of a team responsible for the weekly upkeep of a wet-chemistry darkroom facility and coordination of club activities, programs, and events.

Deliverables

The incumbent will test camera club equipment and recommend repair or replacement. This includes digital and film cameras, tripods, studio lights, darkroom enlargers, timers, etc.

The incumbent will keep track of their work in the Work Tracking Sheet, which identifies days and hours of work and tasks they worked on. The sheet will be reviewed by the supervisor weekly, and the final copy will be uploaded to the Rippen Level Up platform.

Mentorship

The incumbent will receive staff support, training, and guidance. A staff member will be available in-person and online during regular open hours.
