Details

Canadian Interactive Training Facilitators aims to revolutionize first aid training by making it more engaging and memorable for Generation Z and Generation Alpha. The current challenge is that traditional first aid courses are not necessarily optimized for these audiences, leading to lower retention rates. By leveraging the principles of serious gamification, this project seeks to develop a first aid video game. Students who work on this project will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge of game design, user experience, and educational theory in a practical setting.

We will provide extensive assistance with the project, providing scenarios, graphics, simulated injuries etc. as students need.

Deliverables
  • A fully functional prototype of a 1st person shooter style video game designed for Generation Z and Generation Alpha. It is anticipated that instead of a typical shooting, the aim of the game would be to save a life or handle an emergency. This project will allow a lot of creativity from students as to settings, avatars, etc.
  • Games can be either in 3D or 2D, with the understanding that the game will ultimately be in 3D with the learner having the ability to play on laptop, mobile or VR headset.
  • A comprehensive report detailing the game design process, including user experience considerations. We will assist students with the game's goals and learning objectives.
  • A presentation showcasing the game prototype, key features, and anticipated learning outcomes.
  • User feedback collected from a small group of target users to refine and improve the game.
Mentorship

Once the prototype is finished, CITF plans to approach funders or apply for grants that will allow project expansion. When this happens, we would like to offer the students the opportunity to continue working on the game in a professional capacity.

Tools/programs that students will need to work on this project should be minimal (likely Unity or Blender), but should paid programs be needed, we will supply them.
