Career Internship Collaboration Opportunity With Portage College

Portage College offers the Career Internship 1 course, a unique opportunity for second-year students to gain practical work experience in their field of study. Through this 100-hour work placement, students will apply classroom learning to real-world projects, enhancing their career readiness. The course also includes 30 hours of employment training to help students prepare for the workplace. As part of their learning, students will engage in tasks that help them build valuable professional skills such as communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Students in this program are highly motivated and eager to learn while contributing to meaningful work. They are expected to demonstrate initiative, responsibility, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a professional environment. The main goal of this course is to prepare students for their future careers by giving them hands-on experience in a work setting related to their academic and career aspirations.

July 2024 - February 2025 Portage College Level UP

Welcome to Level UP , powered by Riipen! This innovative program connects employers with Canadian post-secondary students for 60-hour paid projects. Students receive $1,400 CAD from Riipen upon successful project completion.  Employers Here’s how it works: Request to match your project to this July 2024 - February 2025 Portage College Level UP cycle. The Level UP team will review and either accept your match or request slight changes.  Once your project is matched, students will apply to work on the project with you. You will review applications, and select the student(s) that you feel will be the best fit with your project.  The student will set the team start and end dates in collaboration with you. They will need to hit “start project” on the Riipen platform and submit all deliverables including 60 work log hours before the end date. The Level UP team will review their project submission & deliverables, before processing payment.   Ready to Level UP your work projects with the July 2024 - February 2025 Portage College Level UP experience? The Level UP team will work with employers to match projects. You will not receive any student applications during this time.  August 2024 - Students will be invited to join Level UP. Students will apply to projects, and employers can accept or decline applications. Projects can start immediately upon acceptance. Looking to elevate your business, and bring it to the next level? Bring on students from Portage College to be your student-consultants, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the partnership period, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Students in this course on Project Management will be introduced to the industry-standard principles for managing projects on time, on budget, and to the organization’s satisfaction. Students will cover the entire lifecycle from conceptualization to termination, with emphasis on project scope management, project time management, and project management planning and control. This curriculum will provide the basic tools for successfully managing any type of project regardless of the industry, scope, environment, complexity, culture, or whether it is a public or private project.
