PROJECT DESCRIPTION/DESCRIPTION DU PROJET: Raven Reads is an Indigenous subscription box that features books and giftware curated from Indigenous authors and entrepreneurs across North America. We are looking to conduct some market research activities to support our expansion activities. A team of three students will conduct the following activities: 1.) conduct desktop research to determine how many companies exist in Canada that manufacture personal care and hygiene products and are majority owned by Indigenous, BIPOC, women and youth; 2.) conduct research to determine the number of competitors in this market, and provide a brief competitor analysis of a selection of these competitors; 3.) conduct research to determine the number of competitors in third-party distribution and warehousing in British Columbia, and provide a brief competitor analysis of a selection of these competitors. PROJECT SCOPE PROJECT DESCRIPTION/DESCRIPTION DU PROJET: Golden Meteorite Press has trained and mentored 100s of students over the last 20 years. Most of our students choose to work with us on an ongoing basis, from their first year of undergraduate studies to Ph.D. and beyond. Your main mentors are well experienced in the difficulties of navigating education and transitions. The founder, Dr. Austin Mardon, is a Member of the Order of Canada, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, in addition to dozens of other professional and scientific organizations. Dr. Catherine Mardon is a retired attorney from the United States, a recognized social justice advocate, and a bioethics expert. Both are approachable and hands-on, and former students continue to include them in their successes well after the end of their internships. Publish peer-reviewed articles in Academia Letters IDEAL ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES/RÔLES/RESPONSABILITÉS:* Channel a thirst for knowledge into a project of a lifetime. Get a jump on your peers by working as part of a collaborative team to take a topic, research your aspect of the topic, and produce a book-length manuscript for publication. Learn to edit your own work and the work of other members of your team. There are also opportunities to foster leadership abilities, conflict resolution, and remote work skills. FINAL PROJECT DELIVERABLES/LIVRABLES DU PROJET: At the end of the project, you will be a published author, showing your research and writing abilities, and your ability to see a large and important project through to completion.
