Capstone Project (Cloud Computing Post-Diploma Certificate) for Winter 2025

Understanding Your Data

Do you have large amounts of data but no easy way to understand it? As organizations are able to collect an increasing amount of data on users and user activity, the need to visualize and present that data in a readable ways. For this project, student teams will work with a dataset provided by your organization to programmatically generating a visualization and presentation system and help you gain important insights.

The Health and Human Services Management Post-Diploma Certificate program builds upon the student’s expertise from their health or human services diploma or degree and prepares them for leadership roles within an organization. Students from this program take business courses along with discipline-specific electives in preparation for leading and managing in the complex landscape of the helping professions. Partner with our students as they apply their disciplinary knowledge to address needs or challenges identified by your organization through a project, event, or activity. This collaboration provides your organization with innovative solutions and support while enriching the students’ education with practical experience. Service learning is augmented with 30-hours of classroom seminar time. Highlights: We will work with you to help identify suitable projects. Students spend 45 hours meeting needs identified by your organization through a project, event, or activity. Two options: May-June (45 hours) OR May-August (45 hours) Service learning opportunities are offered to individual students or student groups. Students have supervising faculty to provide support, guidance, and opportunities for critical reflection throughout this experience. This is an unpaid experiential learning opportunity. Our students can: Provide your organization with innovative solutions and fresh perspectives on community-centered challenges. Create and/or participate in fundraising initiatives. Develop and facilitate employee training and community workshops. Develop community engagement strategies. Develop consumer or client information material. Assess workplace processes and practices and develop recommendations.

This allows you the opportunity to connect with students who can work with you in a project to suit your organization’s needs. Highlights: We will work with you to help identify suitable projects. Under supervision of a faculty member, students present a viable, evidence-based, practical response to an identified organizational need. Students work in small groups to conduct research, complete the research project work, and present their work and/or recommendations to you and/or your organization. Students divide their time between course curriculum and the applied research project for a total of 45 hours (3 hours/week for 15 weeks) in the fall or winter terms. This is an unpaid experiential learning opportunity. Our students can: Provide your organization with innovative solutions and fresh perspectives on community-centered challenges. Create surveys for research. Participate in data analysis and collating information. Perform a literature review or needs analysis. Develop community engagement strategies. Assess workplace processes and practices and develop recommendations.
Fall 2024 - Graphic Design & Visual Communication

Looking to elevate your organization and bring it to the next level? Bring on students from Bow Valley College to be your student consultants, in a project-based experience. Students will work on your project over the course of the semester (kick-off in September, concluding in early December), connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. The course prepares learners for collaborative experiences in real-world scenarios through work-integrated learning. The project provides an integrative learning experience that builds upon previous courses and life experiences. The learner, as part of a small collaborative group, will strategize and complete a project for a real-world client or problem following an appropriate workflow. Creating a Market Research Brief Students will conduct market research and complete a one-page brief before moving the project forward. Completing a Visual Communication/Graphic Design Solution Through research and ideation, students will develop graphic design solutions according to your needs - this can include re-branding solutions, web banner ads, social media, brochures, signage, or any other visual collateral (dependent on time throughout the term).

Interior Decorating Capstone
Concept: We are looking for a client that has a re-decorating or staging project that requires detailed solutions. The learners will work on the project for the entirety of the Winter term (January – April). The client will be required for initial interviews/consultations, at least one concept check in and for the final presentation in April. As this is a decorating solution, there is no movement of existing walls, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical outlets or systems. If this is part of the project, please discuss further with the faculty facility the course to determine if the project could be feasible for the learners. The client will receive a drawing package, control book and solution package for the project.

Justice Studies Capstone/Research Project

Under supervision of a faculty member with industry experience, the Justice Studies student will present a viable, evidence-based practical response to your need. Students are in class for 45 hours with their instructors and work inside and outside of class on the project between January and April, 2023.
