Business Law and Administration

This course is an introductory business law course in which students will learn and apply legal concepts important in business. This includes learning about the legal aspects of relationships which are formed while business is conducted, including the formation of contracts, law of torts, consumer protection, employee relations, and dealings with partners and shareholders. Other important aspects which affect businesses, including real property, intellectual property, the form of the business, and creditors' remedies, are also discussed. Companies who require support/research surrounding how legislation affects their organization would be best suited for our students.

Do you want to increase your bottom line? We can help! We can look at your company and deliver information that can help you make informed decisions that are based on quantitative data. This semester students working in small groups will apply their knowledge in marketing to help your organization seize a marketing opportunity, develop a strategic marketing plan, or solve a current marketing challenge. The students will use marketing research, strategy, digital promotional tools and marketing best practices to create a report and presentation.

Business Communication Strategy 1

Do you have an internal or external communication challenge you want to address? Effective communication, both inside and outside of an organization, is a key characteristic of a successful business. In this undertaking, student-consultant working in teams will identify a communications challenge or opportunity for your organization and develop a strategic communications plan to assist. Based on your particular context, students can examine and establish business communication fundamentals on a number of topics such as delivering bad news, writing complex requests, cultural diversity in the workplace, designing and delivering professional presentations, and best practices in job applications and interviews.
